Summer Matchplay - Singles & Pairs
See here for the Latest Results & Remaining Draw SINGLES & PAIRS
Please play your matches by the deadline for each round. Entry fee's must be paid before playing your first match. If entry fee's have not been received then you will be eliminated from the competition. Treasurer will aim to debit your CCA automatically to take the entry fee, but please check to ensure there are sufficient funds to enable this to happen.
Please arrange your match with your opponent for a mutually convenient time, deadline extensions will not be given. In the event of difficulty in agreeing a match date the following rule "of last resort" will apply - the top player(s) in the draw bracket will offer their opponents two week end dates / times and one week day date / time. If a date / time still cannot be agreed the top bracketed player(s) will be awarded a walk over to be agreed by the Club Captain.
Contacts: There are data/privacy issues around publicising contact numbers. A contact sheet for those who are comfortable with displaying their contact details will be placed on the corridor noticeboard, otherwise participants must use the existing resources (social media, etc.) or ask fellow competitors for details.
Results: The winner should notify the result as soon as possible, by email, to the Competition Secretary.
Final decision on results and rulings will be made by the Club Captain and /or Competition Secretary. Please note, at time of writing (05/06/23), Kev Royan is acting Comp. Secy.

Formats
Singles matches will be off full difference in handicap. For singles matchplay under WHS, Playing Handicap is the same as Course Handicap.
Pairs matches will be greensomes*, off the full difference in handicaps (40% high handicap + 60% low handicap for each pair.) Calculate the handicap for each pair as follows: (Lower handicap x 0.6) + (higher handicap x 0.4). If the handicaps in the pair are equal, then use half the combined handicaps.
The lower handicap pair then gives strokes to the other pair based on the full difference between the two handicaps.
*Greensomes format – Both players tee off, then choose one ball and play alternate shots to finish the hole.
