How do I get a handicap?
You'll be required to hand in 3 scorecards all signed by another member. These can be given directly to the handicap secretary, Kevin Royan, or placed inside the Committee Box which is located opposite you when entering the rear entrance to the clubhouse. Your handicap will be calculated and added to the How Did I Do website as well as the handicap sheet which is located above the committee box.
I have a handicap at another club, can it be transferred?
Yes, speak to Kevin Royan and he should be able to assist you in getting it transferred.
My handicap has become inactive, how do I activate it again?
To keep your handicap active you are required to play at least 3 qualifying competitions per year, if you aren't successful in doing this then your handicap will become inactive. To activate it again all you need to do is play 3 qualifying competitions.
When are competitions?
A variety of competitions run throughout the calendar year including Summer Matchplay competitions and the Winter League. General competitions run every Sunday with tee times scheduled for early morning. Throughout the Summer months there are also mid week 9 hole "roll up" competitions, tee times start from 4:30pm.
How much is the entry fee for competitions?
The usual cost to enter the Sunday competition is £3.50 although there are one or two throughout the year which may cost a little bit more. This should be paid to the starter when you check in for the competition in the bar area.
The mid week "roll up" competition costs £1 to enter, simply add your name to the list in the bar area, put your £1 coin in the jar and head out to play.

I have a 5 day or off peak membership, can I still play in the Sunday competitions?
Yes, you are more than welcome to come and play in the Sunday competitions however you'll be required to pay a discounted members green fee as well as your entry fee into the competition.
How do I book myself into competitions?
You can book yourself into competitions using the online booking system [BRS]. In order to sign up to the booking system you'll require your membership number, if you contact the club they'll be more than happy to provide this to you.

I want to play in competitions but don't have anyone to play with?
Not a problem at all, find a spare slot on the booking system and put your name down, all of our members are very friendly and welcome new faces to the Sunday morning competitions.

I've put my name down for a competition but can't make it?
You'll need to withdraw your name from the online booking system if it's before 5pm the day before the competition. If it's after 5pm or the morning of the competition then we ask all members, who can't make it, to phone the clubhouse in order to let the starter know.
Are there any team competitions I can enter?
Yes, we enter teams into the Leslie Wood, Jubilee Cup, Norman Plum and Thornton Cup. Sign up sheets can be found on the members notice board. Handicap limits apply to each competition so make sure to read the sign up sheets carefully.
